Masonry grid

Masonry mesh is an essential component used in the construction of brick walls, foundations, and reinforced concrete structures. The structural material is produced by welding or binding small-diameter metal rods. As a result, square-shaped cells of a specific size are obtained.

MAIN AREAS OF APPLICATION OF MASONRY MESH

Masonry mesh is primarily used for reinforcing brick walls in buildings or when erecting fences. The reinforcement procedure is especially important if the structure involves the presence of a ventilation opening between the wall and the facing brick. The mesh is laid every fourth/fifth layer of bricks. Under the weight of the wall, the reinforcement is clamped, functioning as a single unit with the masonry.

Reinforcement with masonry mesh or reinforcing belt can be of two types: longitudinal and transverse. In transverse reinforcement, the rods are subjected to transverse tensile loads, which occur during compression of the masonry. Therefore, the product prevents the destruction of bricks under tension or bending, thereby increasing the load-bearing capacity of the wall. Partition walls, walls, and columns are also erected using transverse masonry mesh with a rod diameter not exceeding 8 mm. To protect against corrosion, the masonry mesh is coated with a layer of mortar. In addition, masonry mesh is in demand for the following tasks:

  • plastering works;
  • reinforcement of gypsum panels;
  • fencing of building facades, construction sites, scaffolding, road works;
  • drainage of horizontal terraces, load-bearing walls;
  • identification of underground communications;
  • reinforcement of concrete, floors, facades, walls, arches;
  • mechanical protection of cladding of steel pipelines;
  • reinforcement of road surfaces;
  • reinforcement of reinforced concrete structures;
  • laying of pipes for heating warm floors, etc.

Moreover, such type of mesh can be used not only in construction. For example, masonry mesh can be used as a filtering element during the transportation of liquids and gases.

MATERIALS

The following materials are used in the production of reinforcing wire mesh:

  • low-carbon steel;
  • low-carbon steel protected (zinc, PVC);
  • aluminum;
  • aluminum protected (zinc, PVC);
  • fiberglass.

For specific construction industries and strength requirements, mesh made of the steel grade specified in the design documentation is selected. Depending on this, the mesh can be heavy or light, which is taken into account during transportation and storage. The diameter of the wire in heavy mesh can reach 10 millimeters. According to GOST 23279-85, welded reinforcement meshes are produced in rolls or flat.

QUALITY CHARACTERISTICS

Among the technical parameters considered by buyers are the dimensional sizes, tensile strength, specific weight, and cell size. According to the technical requirements of GOST, the parameters of the products required for ordering are found in the technological documentation or drawings approved for a specific object.
